What does your name (Chi Alpha) mean?
It's all Greek to us - literally. The Greek letters Chi (x) and Alpha (a) are the initials of a phrase written by the Apostle Paul in the Bible. The phrase translated means "Christ's sent ones." The name is a reminder that we should live to represent Jesus.
How would you describe Chi Alpha in a phrase?
Chi Alpha is a Christian fellowship. We describe ourselves with this motto: "Followers of Christ...friends with each other."
- We are a community of students on campus who practice Christian faith. We believe Jesus Christ is "the way, the truth, and the life" and that no one enters into a right relationship with God except through him.
- We value our relationships with Jesus Christ and build relationships with each other through his love.
- We love God and we love each other.
What is your vision for campus ministry?
- "Reconciling students to Christ...transforming the university, the marketplace, and the world!"
- We envision a community on campus where students receive love, forgiveness, healing, hope, and a fresh start through Jesus Christ.
- We envision a community of students who worship God, grow in unity, build lifelong relationships, learn together, and live an authentic Christian faith.
- We envision reaching out to the world through global evangelism and through ministry to international students on our campus.
- We envision partnership with other campus ministries and churches in the Lawrence area.
- We envision alumni who find their place in the marketplace and serve God in ministry in local churches and community service.
- We envision a ministry training center where mentors equip students to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.
What is your purpose for campus ministry?
We desire to be a community of students focused on these values:
Worship - passion for God; Fellowship - real relationships and teamwork; Evangelism - preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ; Discipleship - growing in the grace and knowledge of God; Prayer - believing God to do more than we can ask or imagine.
